The Archer

The acclaimed author of “The Alchemist” presents us with a fable about “The Way of the Bow.” A legendary master, specialist in the arts of archery, shares a unique legacy of wisdom with his young disciple, using metaphors about the bow and arrow to illustrate the meaning of life.

Throughout our tireless life journey pursuing happiness, we set goals for ourselves to achieve prosperity, love, health, etc. While we might know where to aim (“the target” in archery terms), we don’t always conceptualize the steps to get there.

In the author’s words: “The arch is life: the source of all energy. The arrow will leave one day”. We then see in the arch, the way to exploit our potential to hit the ‘bullseye’ of a better future.

The archer did not always hit the target on his first attempt. In fact, it is most likely that he has failed several times, the important thing is not to quit. Practice makes masters, as the old proverb says. “There comes a time when the archer no longer has to think about what he is doing. From now on, he becomes his bow, arrow, and target”.

This book is undoubtedly one of the most inspiring reads I have come across with in recent times. Big thanks to all our Nacion Libro followers! For keeping an eye on our book reviews, send us your comments!
