Who would have thought that describing the life of a geek would result in a wonderful narrative, one that mixes historical passages about the Dominican Republic with sublime allusions to graphic novels that are adored by the masses! This novel was recognized with the Pulitzer Prize for Literature in 2008.
This is result of the genius of Dominican writer Junot Diaz, who in his “The wondrous and brief history of Oscar Wao” novel describes a chronicle that involves three generations in two countries, while including plots that open many international “Pandora’s boxes”.
Oscar is an introverted boy, oblivious to taking care of his hygiene and personal image, but by writing fictional stories he gives a sudden meaning to his life. A curse weighs on him and his family which goes back to his ancestral Caribbean roots.
This truly a literary gem! A book that is both enjoyed in English and Spanish (great translation to Spanish!). You will all love it!
